The Wildcats lost to Sam Houston State 9-3 on Sunday to end the season in the Lubbock Regional.
This year's team was ever only going to go as far as the offense took it. There were some solid pitchers who emerged as the season went on, but it was never going to be a strong staff and if the offense sputtered at any point it was going to be tough to make it deep. You need lots of good pitching in the tournament and Arizona didn't quite get it consistently enough. A lot of new pieces to this team but a good year to build on. It won't sit well with Johnson for a bit, but there is certainly some things to be excited about heading into next season.
